Universal Debt Forgiveness

Universal debt forgiveness is a great Marxist idea. In order to achieve it, it would become necessary that universal government become the sole provider of income; be it from wages, investments, retirements, or welfare.

In addition, for it to be just those who had bought property of any type thru debt would have to return the property either to the original owners leading to greater economic disparity or to the government. If the latter, said government would then have to redistribute the property to the people. Would not the criteria necessarily be from each according to his ability, to each according to his need as argued by Karl Marx?

Furthermore, in order to implement such a radical reordering of society would it not be necessary to establish a totalitarian regime in order to keep order? And to be brutally fair, would it not be necessary to exterminate those considered non-productive whether it be for reasons of poor health, old age, or lack of skills?

Does that mean we can’t strive for a more just means of participation in wealth? I would hope not, but Marxism isn’t the way. When all are equal, all are equally poor. Marxism by necessity destroys incentive except the incentive provided by the barrel of a gun.

Universal debt forgiveness would mean Sieg Heil comrades and welcome to a Brave New World.
